A mound of topsoil freshly delivered next to a lush lawn

Yes, the Topsoil Is Back!

Four cubic yards of topsoil, delivered to your address and spread once it gets there. It sold last year, the same donor has offered it again, and it opens at $500. It remains the most useful thing in the building.

If this is your first time bidding with us, that item tells you most of what you need to know. The catalog comes together from a hundred different people thinking a hundred different thoughts about what someone might want, and the result swings from a signed Super Bowl display to a gallon of homemade blackberry pie ice cream without blinking. If you have bid with us before, you already knew that, and you probably already have a list going.

There are 109 items up right now and more going in between now and October 25.

Here is some of what is waiting, grouped by the kind of person we think might want it.

For the one who watches every game

A Xavier Worthy signed Chiefs logo football opens at $225. There is a Tamba Hali #91 autographed jersey at $110, a Trent McDuffie signed and mounted Super Bowl ticket at the same, and a Willie Wilson signed Royals baseball at $85. If you would rather be in the stands than looking at a wall, there are Chiefs tickets to the Cardinals game in November, opening at $125.

For the one with a project list

This is where the catalog gets unreasonable. A Milwaukee cordless hammer drill and impact driver combo opens at $150. So does a reciprocating saw and multi-tool bundle. There is a circular saw and grinder set at $190, a 16-inch chainsaw kit at $225, a rolling tool box at $60, and a pruning saw kit with battery at $100. Then, of course, the topsoil.

For the one already thinking about Christmas

An eleven-piece Delft Blue porcelain nativity set opens at $45. There is a handmade quilted throw from our own quilters at $100, a collection of hand-crocheted snowflake ornaments at $25, and a row of Christmas baskets — ornaments, treats, wrapping, snowmen — most of them opening between $10 and $25. Several sets of handmade Stampin’ Up cards open at $15.

For the one who would rather be outside

A guided fishing adventure on Truman Lake opens at $125. If you tie your own luck instead, there are five different sets of custom crankbaits and hand-tied jigs opening between $15 and $25. A rose gold Kent cruiser bicycle with a helmet opens at $50, and a handcrafted cornhole set at $125.

For the one who shows up with food

Granny Fay’s famous pies come as a sweet and savory duo, opening at $25. A gallon of homemade blackberry pie ice cream opens at $40. There is a thirteen-pound meat bundle from a local family farm at $75 and grass-fed ground beef at $140. Naomi’s famous chocolate chip cookies open at $25, and the catalog lists their value as priceless, which we are inclined to agree with.

For twenty-five dollars or less

Plenty, as it turns out. A piece of wall art for $10. A basket of plush birdies for the same. Crocheted coasters and hot pads, a teacup with a fern, a s’mores basket, a gourmet gift basket certificate, all opening at $10. Some of the best moments of auction night come from these, when two people decide a $15 item is worth $60 to them and everyone in the room starts laughing.

And a few we are not showing you yet

There are three or four items in this catalog that are going to cause trouble, in the best way. One of them rolls on four wheels. We are holding those for next week, when bidding is close enough that you can do something about it.

What to do now

Go look. You do not need an account to browse, so send the link to whoever in your life needs a chainsaw.

If you plan to bid, make an account now rather than on October 25. It takes about a minute, there is no payment information involved, and it lets you build a watch list while you browse. Bidding opens October 25 at 6:00 PM, and everything begins closing at 7:45 PM on November 8 at our live event at Heart of Life Church in Garden City.

Browse the catalog at 32auctions.com/NIC2026.

Opening bids are current as of October 15.
