There is a particular pleasure in walking into an auction room before anyone else does, when everything is still being set out and nothing has a bid on it yet. That is roughly where we are today. The first listings are up, with more going on every week. The items themselves are already in hand, filling tables and closets and at least one spare room, and we are photographing and writing them up a few at a time. New listings will appear every week between now and October 25, so this is a page worth bookmarking and coming back to. Bidding opens October 25 and runs through November 8, when we will gather in person at Heart of Life Church in Garden City on Orphan Sunday to close it out together.
You do not need an account to look, which is worth knowing as the catalog grows. Anyone with the link can browse it, so when something turns up that your neighbor or your sister would love, you can send it straight to them and they can see it without signing up for anything.
An account is only needed to place a bid, and it takes about a minute: your name, an email address we verify, and a phone number if you want one. No payment information at sign-up. Once you are registered you can build a watch list as you browse, so the things you care about are waiting in one place when bidding opens, and the site will let you know if someone outbids you. Add your phone number and that notice can come as a text, which means you can go about your day without refreshing the page every twenty minutes.
When bidding opens you can enter the exact amount you want, or set a maximum and let the site bid on your behalf up to that number. A few items have a buy-it-now price if you would rather not wait, and a handful of listings have more than one available, so more than one person can walk away happy. The whole thing works on your phone, and when you win, you can pay by credit card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay.
