We have heard from our shelter leadership in Nepal, and we want you to know: the shelter is safe. The children are safe.
But the region around them is not.
On August 26th, catastrophic flash floods struck Nepal’s Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts — one of the most devastating natural disasters to hit the region in recent memory. As of August 27th, at least 359 people have been confirmed dead and more than 1,000 remain missing. Search and recovery operations are ongoing, and the final toll is expected to be significantly higher.
Nuwakot district has been severely impacted. Among those affected are believers who have lost their homes. Some have lost their lives.
Our shelter and the children in our care are safe — and we are deeply grateful. But safety is not the same as untouched. The community around our shelter is grieving, and the weight of that is not lost on us or on our leadership there.
In the days ahead, efforts are being made to go to Nuwakot — to meet with others on the ground, to assess what is most urgently needed, and to stand with those who are hurting. We ask for your prayers over every step of that work — for wisdom, for provision, for open doors, and for the kind of presence that brings comfort in the middle of deep pain and trauma.

- For wisdom and provision for those preparing to offer relief and support
- For the children in our Nepal shelter, who are safe but are not unaware of the suffering around them
