Sometimes progress doesn’t look like much at first glance. Concrete. Steel. Dirt. Lines in the ground where something is beginning to take shape. Yet, this is where everything starts.
On April 4th, we received this update from Myanmar:
“We praise the Lord, today we finished our new shelter’s foundation — most expensive, most difficult, most important part of the good building.”
That sentence carries weight, just like the foundation to which it refers.
What you’re seeing in these photos is the part that determines everything that comes next.
The foundation is where strength is set and stability is built. And now, that part is complete.
Rebar has been tied and set in place, footings have been poured and formed.
The outline of the shelter is no longer an idea. It’s visible, grounded, and moving forward.
From here, the work will begin to rise. Walls will go up and spaces will take shape, and eventually, this will become a place where children are welcomed, cared for, and given room to grow.
And it starts here with the careful work that most people will never see once the building is finished.
Here, a strong foundation is being laid for a building that will stand.
And, in the lives of the children who will one day fill these rooms, another foundation is being laid as well — one that goes deeper than concrete and steel. Alongside the care they receive, they are being introduced to the Rock Himself, the sure foundation who will hold them steady long after these walls are built.
Project Nic supports this every day care. Much of it happens quietly, consistently, and without attention. And it is what makes everything else possible.
We’re grateful to share this progress with you — not as a finished story, but as a meaningful step forward.
There is more work ahead, but the foundation is in place.
