An empty community hall with stacked chairs and cleared tables in warm late-afternoon light.

Before Any of This, There Was West Central

Our first benefit auction was in January 2021. We were new at it, the way everyone is new at something once, and we had more hope than experience. What we also had, from that very first year, was West Central Auction Company standing alongside us.

They stayed for six auctions over five years, right through our November 2025 event. Somewhere in there we moved the auction from the middle of winter to November, so it could land on Orphan Sunday, and they came with us through that change too. Six auctions is a lot of evenings, a lot of logistics, and a lot of patience with a small ministry learning as it went.

They were generous with us in ways we will not detail here, except to say that their generosity was real and it mattered. Money that might have gone elsewhere went instead to the children in our care: to meals and school fees and safe places to sleep for the children in our care. Years of that add up to something considerable, and none of it would have happened the same way without them.

We are especially grateful to Jason Winter, who was our main contact through those years and who made the practical side of things possible whenever we needed help.

Our 2026 auction looks different, and that is the natural shape of things as an organization grows and changes. But we did not want to move into this season without saying plainly where we came from. The auction we are about to hold exists because the first six happened, and those happened in no small part because of West Central Auction Company.

If you need an auction company, they are at westcentralauctionco.com. From all of us at Project Nic, and on behalf of every child these auctions have helped: thank you.
