What It Takes to Support Six Shelters Across Five Countries

There’s a question underneath a lot of what we do at Project Nic, one that doesn’t always get asked out loud: How does this actually work?

Six shelters. Five countries. More than 270 children receiving food, housing, education, medical care, and daily love. It can sound like a large operation when you list it that way. And in some respects, it is. But the way it holds together might surprise you.

It starts with people on the ground.

Every Project Nic shelter is led and staffed by local caregivers — men and women who live in the communities they serve, who speak the language, who understand the culture, and who show up every single day. In India, Myanmar, Nepal, Taiwan, and Thailand, these are the people who wake up early to prepare meals, who sit with a child who had a nightmare, who celebrate small victories in the classroom and hard days with equal steadiness.

We don’t run these shelters from a distance. We partner with leaders who are already rooted in their communities, and we resource them to do what they do best: care well.

It continues with donors who give consistently.

One of the most important things a supporter can do for Project Nic is give regularly. Not because the need is urgent in a crisis sense, but because the children in our shelters need consistency. They need to know that their next meal is coming, that their school fees are covered, that the roof over their heads is secure.

A yearly sponsorship of $468 — just over a dollar a day — provides one child with everything they need for an entire year. Food. Shelter. Clothing. Education. Medical care. And the daily assurance that they are not forgotten.

That kind of giving, multiplied across a community of supporters, is what makes six shelters in five countries not just possible, but sustainable.

It grows through partnerships.

Our Platinum Sponsors, corporate partners, auction supporters, and Run for Shelter participants aren’t just checking a box — they’re part of the infrastructure that keeps this mission moving. When a business puts its name behind Project Nic, it sends a message to the community that this work matters. That message travels further than a logo on a t-shirt.

It holds together because of you.

Here’s what we want you to know: this is not a large organization with deep pockets running a polished program from a corner office somewhere. There are no U.S. administrative salaries. Every dollar donated goes directly to the children.

What makes Project Nic work is a community of people — people like you — who believe that vulnerable children deserve safety, dignity, and a chance to thrive. People who give when they can, who show up at events, who share a post, who pray.

Six shelters across five countries is not the result of a strategic expansion plan. It’s the result of faithfulness. Yours and ours, together.

If you’d like to be part of what makes this possible, we’d love to have you. Sponsor a child, join an upcoming event, or simply share this post with someone who might want to know what Project Nic is all about.
