She Asked for an Education

When she arrived at the shelter three years ago, she was already carrying a clear sense of purpose.

At just twelve years old, she knew she wanted an education — not simply to attend school, but to stay, to graduate, and to build a future shaped by opportunity rather than circumstance.

Now fifteen and in ninth grade, she comes from Shen State. Both of her parents are living, but instability at home made consistent schooling impossible. Her father struggles with drug use, and her mother carries overwhelming family responsibilities. Time, structure, and support were limited, and education became something she feared she might lose altogether.

Rather than surrendering to that reality, she spoke up.

She asked to come to the shelter because she wanted what every child deserves: a safe place to learn, grow, and complete her education. Her mother brought her, hoping this environment would give her daughter the chance she knew she could not provide on her own.

Since arriving, she has done exactly what she hoped to do.

Caregivers describe her as one of the hardest-working students in the shelter. Focused and disciplined, she approaches her studies with determination and quiet confidence. She is known for her strong academic ability and her willingness to work diligently toward her goals.

Education, for her, is not a requirement — it is a lifeline.

The shelter did not create her ambition. It protected it. With stability, routine, and consistent care, she has been able to remain in school and continue progressing, grade by grade, toward graduation.

Her story is a reminder of what happens when children are given safety and opportunity: they rise to meet it.

Your support helps make stories like hers possible — not by creating dreams, but by giving children the stability they need to pursue the dreams they already carry.
