As we step into 2026, we do so with gratitude, clarity, and hope.
Project Nic exists to provide steady, compassionate care for children who need safety, education, and long-term support. Each year, that mission continues because of a community that believes children deserve more than survival — they deserve stability and opportunity.
Our 2026 Goal
This year, our fundraising goal is $75,000. This number represents the care, education, staffing, and daily needs that sustain children across our shelters as well as the hope for shelter expansion this year and beyond.
And we are not starting from zero.
Because of your generosity so far, we have already seen meaningful progress:
- $28,924 raised through the annual benefit auction
- $7,000 committed through corporate sponsorships
- $936 raised through GiveButter child sponsorships
- Additional child sponsorships and unmarked donations received directly through partner churches (final totals forthcoming)
Every dollar represents provision — meals served, school fees paid, safe beds prepared, and caregivers present.
What 2026 Is Bringing
This year, we’re expanding both opportunity and connection:
- New community fundraisers, including a spring BBQ Bingo event (date to be announced)
- The Project Nic 5k / 10k / No-k Run on July 11
- The “Give Hope, Give Home: The 2026 Project Nic Benefit Auction” on November 8 (Orphan Sunday)
- Two city-wide garage sale events supporting Project Nic and other missions:
- May 2nd Harrisonville city-wide garage sale at Heart of Life Church Butler Drive campus (date coordinated with city schedule)
- June 6th at the Garden City Heart of Life Church campus
- A Thanksgiving turkey fry fundraiser in November (details coming soon)
Beyond events, we are especially encouraged by what’s happening internationally:
- We are expanding the reach of the Nepal shelter in 2026
- We are prayerfully working toward the expansion of the Myanmar shelter in 2027
Why This Matters
The work of Project Nic is not seasonal. Care does not pause between events. Children rely on consistency — and that consistency is made possible by a community that shows up faithfully throughout the year.
As we begin 2026, we’re grateful you’re here with us. There is important work ahead, and we believe it’s work worth doing together.
